Habari Yako? (How are you)

So I arrived in Arusha without a hitch.... no flight delays, no lost luggage... my flight even landed early!

Mama Elly's (for those of you who don't know - she was who I stayed with my first time here) brother-in-law picked me up from the airport which was nice. I am all set with my phone, still need to take out more money because my card hasn't worked at the first 2 ATMS.

Instead of my old room I am staying in the room of Einoti (Mama's daughter). It is pretty much the same room but just next door. Einoti is away at boarding school but this weekend is parent's day at the school so I will be going to visit her then. She goes to school in Moshi, which is near kilimanjaro. There is a GCS volunteer staying at Mama's house too and it is nice to see another Mzungu (for those of you who forget, or those that never knew, "mzungu" is the name here for whites/foreigners. Her name is Allison and she is from Idaho.

Mama drove me to work today.... she still has the same car as before although it needs some oil and some repairs so I think we are going to take it into the shop this week because I told her it needs to fixed especially if we are going to drive to Moshi.

I had my first day of work today with a different doctor than the one I am going to be working with- Dr. Msuya. I will probably work with both of them anyways. Its a small old little hospital but they actually have an OR, ultrasound and ECHO, and a lab that does CBCs and urinalysis. Oh and malaria screening and some basic STD testing. Dr. Msyua is an internist by training, but does some Obs-gyne too and does his own c-sections. He is a fertility specialist and also has done a fellowship in cardiology. I know, eh? Interesting background mix! The hospital has about 10 beds for inpatients, but there aren't always a lot of inpatients. The clinics are busy though. There is another student (4th year med student from Cali) named Michael who is here until the end of the week. He showed me the ropes today!

I got off work early today so I could do some errands and because I am so tired my eyes won't stay open. I am going to go meet Mama at her store (she was an accoutant when I was here but now opened a store) which I have not seen yet.

Thats all for now. I promise the future posts will be better, but right now I can barely think straight. Plus nothing has happened yet!

PS. For Sarah (Campbell)- I am at McMoody's now... nothing has changed, I think the computers are the same! When I pass sanawari I will think of you! And I'll let you know if I see any soggy Masaai! Wish you were here!

PPS. for Daud- I think its so funny you're reading this! You live here!! I keep you posted on my flight etc for coming to Mwanza!
